Getting Started

Fixing infantry guns after maintenance, or after dyeing black is quite arduous. Previously, there were several methods and tools to calibrate guns accurately and modernly. However, they require the construction of expensive infrastructure, resulting in high correction costs in the low field of combat.

Therefore, the method of calibrating guns with target shooting is still applied commonly, but it consumes an enormous amount of ammunition. The calibrators must-have shooting skills, and natural, weather, and climatic conditions.

What Is the Method of Gun Calibration?

In the military, the calibration device includes a microcomputer control device, a high-speed camera device, a target distance measuring device, and a projectile calibration device respectively connected to the microcomputer control device.

The electromagnet group is available along the axial direction of the main body. The electromagnet group includes at least three electromagnets, and the manufacturer evenly arranged the electromagnets along the circumference of the gun barrel.

The calibration device calculates the azimuth and distance of the target point deviating from the recognition point, and through the control of the microcomputer control device. It makes the electromagnet group produce a specified direction and magnitude of the resultant force acting on the projectile, changing the movement trajectory of the projectile and making the projectile wider.

Besides, the trajectory is calibrated by controlling the electrification of the electromagnet group to be turned off at a specified time. So, the flight speed of the projectile can be further increased, making the gun’s range and shooting power stronger.

Methods of Gun Calibration

The tool applies the principle of using optical sights to position the line from the gun barrel to the reference point on the calibrated target. Then aim through the viewfinder of the gun. If this line-of-sight deviates from the reference point on the calibrated target, move the part of the reticle so that the line of sight through the viewfinder is correct on the reference point on the target. We could adjust the gun to the correct aim.

To implement the above correction method, besides using the standard glasses for locating the muzzle line, there are some details:

  • Calibration is made on the base and rack of the K53 machine gun.
  • Fitting for fitting standard glasses to the gun barrel end
  • Vam and wrench to calibrate the organ of sight.

When making adjustments, calibrate the gun holder firmly on the rack and fit standard glasses on the barrel end. One person looks through the standard glass, announces the result so that the second person adjusts the range and direction (on the calibrated rack) to ensure that the cross point on the glass coincides with the cross on the calibrated target.

Fix the gun, aim through the viewfinder on the calibrated target, if the line-of-sight deviates from the reference point on the calibrated target, use vam (viewfinder correction) and wrench (fly head correction) so that line of sight passes through the reticle to coincide with the benchmark on beer is fine.

How VNS-F75 System Works for Gun Calibration?
